Cousins and fishing and other fun things

Last summer Eldon worked in Cortez, CO and we were able to spend a lot of time with my brother and sister's families. Ever since we left Colorado last fall the children (and us) were hoping and scheming how we could visit again this year. Eventually we realized that like most things, we have to JUST DO IT if we want to! So we did. And it was a fantastic week, full of good food, happy times, and hard work. It's hard to beat family time!

We hadn't met my brother's youngest yet and he's already 6 months old. Michael couldn't get done holding him!

Ethan is 6 months older then Alex. Most of the time they fought but occasionally they played nicely!

Evan's main sewer line completely disintegrated right where it comes into the basement so Eldon got to help fix that. Lots of cutting concrete, dust, and more then 1 trip to Home Depot happened before it was completed!

Can you find the baby?!

When it's past bedtime and the sewer isn't fixed yet.......you plunk the grumpies on the couch with books!

Friday afternoon we tried our hand at snagging Salmon that were swimming upriver to the Ridgeway Reservoir.

Makayla stuck it out as long as Eldon!

It was fun, just cast and reel and hope to snag one!

Emily and her cousin Nakita happily played in the water and mud!

Don't you know? You catch many more fish if you are in knee deep!

Sadly, we only caught 3, and my brother-in-law got them all!

The San Juan Mountains........never gets old looking at them!

Saturday we spent a few hours cutting and spitting wood for my brother Evan. It was a fun way to get a lot of work done.

The weather was perfect for making mountain pies by the pond. Cool, but not cold.

My 12 year old nephew shot this buck plus a doe after 5 minutes in the field!

Cousins!

Cutie pie!

Playing with fire.

Our living room window view from where we park at my sister's. Now you know why I never want to leave :).

Even though it was the middle of October, we still got to see plenty of fall colors.

Riding dirt bike is always something the children look forward to.

Makayla's getting pretty good at it!

Little guy charmed us all!

The noise these 3 put forth when playing is impressive!

UNO, with my nephew Alex trying to help.
We were all a bit sad and grumpy to leave but we made wonderful memories and know we'll be back! Plus, something about an open road and new adventures tends to cheer our hearts :).
