Hanging Garden Trail

One of the first hikes we did in Arizona was to the Hanging Gardens. We're fairly totally out of shape plus the elevation is against us so an easy 1 mile walk was appealing.

After being in dreary Pennsylvania for 3 weeks, we just can't get over the marvelous blue sky. It's especially beautiful against all the red rocks. My little camera does not capture the awesomeness at all!

Lake Powell is down there, right under the white band.

The hanging gardens are a rare green oasis in this part of the country. Thanks to water seeping through the sandstone, there is vegetation growing on vertical walls underneath the butte here.

We saw dampness but couldn't even find any water drops.

A closer look at Lake Powell as evening approaches.
This is an easy 1 mile round-trip hike. Elevation gain is only 40 feet and it's almost all in a very short distance near the end. The trail is well marked by rocks bordering both sides.
