Lizard Head Pass, Colorado

On our way from Montrose, CO to Albuquerque, NM we spent the night on top of Lizard Head Pass on the 145 South. Yes, on top, where it's 10,000 feet above sea level! It was nearly dark until we pulled in and in the 40's so we spent next to no time outside, which is sad but.....next time!

The dirt road to the left right at the crest has enough rocks that mud wasn't a problem even though it had been raining. While the road was rough, it was not ridiculously so and our 40 foot 5th wheel easily made it. We only went about .2 of a mile then backed into a big pull-off where others had obviously parked before. The road was visible but it felt very private and secluded.

Here is the exact spot where we boondocked. I hope you get to stay in this beautiful spot someday!
